Contour Drawing

Times have been busy lately but I managed to carve out some time to continue doing my contour drawing. Contour drawing is just drawing the edges of objects and it is very flat, has no dimension. When I learn to do the shading and highlighting, it will give my drawing dimension and depth and look more realistic.

When I drew with the exercises in this book about 10 years ago, I drew a parrot. I didn't want to repeat that so I just went on to the next assignment which was to draw a variety of birds and to make a composition using these birds. This is what I drew. I haven't colored in the birds because I need to research what colors to use. I was surprised that I did this drawing quickly. (My husband liked this drawing :)

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." - Mark Twain

  1. Beautiful birds. Imagine when you do color them in!

That Mark Twain, smart, smart guy. I've always liked him! I totally agree with him and it's particularly good to know and remember his truth here this beginning of the week.
